It's not a formula or recipe for surefire growth - as if we could pick the type of fruit we wanted to grow and determine to grow it without a Vine.
It's a lifestyle of surrender and relentless trust - Trust that the hardship and the seemingly fruitless labor and the smell of the waste won't last forever. Trust that the roots are becoming stronger and deeper from the downpour of rain - that the pulling of weeds is a good thing. Trust that the Gardener has our names engraved in the palm of His hands. If He dresses the lilies of the field in such splendor, though they are here today and gone tomorrow, will he not also take care of us?
Soul Compost is a compilation of the things God is slowly growing in me through trial, pain and discouragement. I pray that as you share my journey with me, you will become more aware of the work the Gardener is doing in your own life through difficulty. We cannot always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we can have a blessed assurance that the Creator of the Universe will tend to our broken hearts until the end.
